As we sought to find God's man to serve as our next Senior Pastor, we spent much time in reading what God's Word has to say about Biblical leadership. We invited all our candidates to spend time reading some of the verses that are important to us on this topic.
We also recommended that all candidates review the Job Description for the role of Senior Pastor at Crossview.
Key Biblical Responsibilities
- Preaches the Word of God accurately (2 Timothy 4:2; 2 Timothy 2:15)
- Prays earnestly for everyone; prayer is a priority to him (1 Timothy 2:1)
- Equips God’s people for works of service (Ephesians 4:12)
- Builds up the body of Christ to create unity of faith and knowledge of God (Ephesians 4:13)
- Matures God’s people to become more like Christ (Ephesians 4:13)
- Mentors others in the faith so they can teach others (2 Timothy 2:2)
- Shares the gospel with everyone with boldness (2 Timothy 1:7-8; Acts 1:8; Matthew 28:19-20)
- Teaches to patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage God’s people (2 Timothy 4:2)
- Shepherds and cares for the church (Acts 20:28)
- Leads with knowledge and understanding (Jeremiah 3:15)
- Guards themselves, the flock, and the faith (Acts 20:28, 2 Timothy 1:13-14)
- Sets an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity (1 Timothy 4:12)
